Can the PolyScience 6000 Series chillers be controlled remotely in any way?

There is an option for an RS232 connection to be built into a 6000 series chiller for an additional charge (please contact us for pricing). This would allows you to connect the chiller to a computer (or other RS232-compatible control device) and set and / or monitor things such as on/off, set temperature, pressure, flow, remote probe temperature, and fault status. Complete info on RS232 is near the back of the operator manual.


Can I run a PolyScience 6000 Series chiller continuously under maximum load?

Under any situation requiring continuous operation, both we and PolyScience recommend that you don't run a chiller at more than 80% load. Continuous operation under maximum load could damage the condenser, rendering the chiller inoperable.


Can I adjust the set pressure or flow rate when running a PolyScience 6000 Series chiller?

No. The pumps in PolyScience chillers try to run at maximum capacity so long as the unit is on. The only way to reduce the flow rate and pressure is through the setup of your line. For instance, running a bypass line will reduce pressure and flow rate.

Note that the pressure and flow rates specified for a given system / pump are maximums and therefore a higher flow or pressure cannot be achieved.


How large is the internal reservoir in the 6000 Series Portable Chillers?

All of the 6000 Series chillers have reservoirs which are 1.11 gallons / 4.2 liters.


If I turn a 6000 Series Chiller off, will it retain the last set point temperature when it is turned back on?

The 6000 Series Chillers will retain their set point temperature once it is saved unless the temperature units are changed or it loses power completely (for instance, if the unit is unplugged or the circuit breaker is turned off).


How much heating power does the optional heater have?

For the 6200, 6300, and 6500 series chillers, the optional heater is 800 W. For the 6700 and 6100, the heater is 1000 W.


Do the 6000 Series Portable Chillers come on casters?

Yes, they come on casters. Two of the wheels are locking.


What is the temperature set point resolution of the 6000 Series Chillers?

The temperature can be set with a 0.1°C/°F resolution. However, if RS-232 is used, the temperature can only be set to whole integer values.
